After a few weeks of contemplation about the ideal break away for a week, I decided upon North Wales and Snowdonia, and two specific campsites, the first of which is Llyn Gwynant Campsite
The site is set, quite obviously, at Llyn Gwynant, a lake that is down in a valley a couple of miles from Snowdon. Due to this close proximity, I figured that this site would be a great base from which to take a good walk up to the summit of Snowdon.
Its a very quiet site with nice shower and toilet facilities and also quite strict rules about noise. There is no mobile phone signal there at all (there is a payphone on site if you feel the need to contact anyone). So if you want peace and quiet then this is the place for you.
Llyn Gwynant is in itself a nice lake to have a walk around and there are Canoes and Kayaks that can be hired. If you have your own boat then you can also take it to use.
A couple of great features about this site are;
1. They supply fire trays so you can have campfires. They supply the logs too for £4, in bags that contain kindling and various sized logs and with a firelighter block to ensure you’re able get the fire going and enjoy the evening.
2. At weekends, they have pizzas professionally made on-site. And of course after trying one, I can highly recommend them.
The staff are friendly and due to zero light pollution, at night you can stargaze to your hearts content.
Its a really tranquil site that I have no doubt I’ll revisit in due course.
